Terry Francona loves grape popsicles so much that he recently ate 17 in one night
Terry Francona must have one heck of a sweet tooth.
The Cleveland Indians manager is known for his excessive bubblegum chewing (he has his own personal five pound bucket of 'Dubble Bubble' in the dugout with him during every game), but apparently Tito has a love affair with another sweet treat: grape popsicles.
Francona had no shame in sharing an interesting story about his current obsession with Outshine Fruit Bars before Wednesday's game against the Tigers.
"I had 17 the other night. No, that's not a lie," Francona said when asked about the popsicles in question. He might have overindulged on Tuesday night, because his 17-popsicle binge had him hurting throughout the night.
"I woke up in the middle of the night and I was like borderline, like it was coming up. But I was so tired that I just laid there for about an hour and I was like, 'Don't throw up, don't throw up, don't throw up.' I I should have got up and threw up. And then I woke up in the morning and I was like, '[expletive]'. So I started counting the sticks. They're so good. Obviously I don't get tired of them. They're so [expletive] good."
Tito went on to say that of the nine boxes that were brought to him, there is only one box left.
"I don't know what I'm going to do tonight," Francona said of his depleted treat stash. "They're good, man. And they have them on the plane, too. When the lady comes by with a basket I just grab the basket like, 'I'll handle this.'"
Francona doesn't seem too concerned about the effect that the goodies might have on his waistline, as he insists they're of the low-cal variety.
"They're healthy, so if one's good, 17's gotta be real good."
