Royals manager Yost calls out Cardinals fans, Twitter goes nuts
Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost had some interesting things to say about the fan base of their cross-state rival, the St. Louis Cardinals, in a recent postgame new conference.
"The Missouri fans are great," Yost said when asked about the fans, per MLB.com. But of course, he had to clarify: "The St. Louis fans are great, but not as vocal and exciting as our fans."
Ouch.
Twitterverse was quick to chime in on Yost's comments — and Cards fans were not kind.
Royals fans were quick to rush to Yost's defense:
@FlannyMLB Wait until you start losing again. #Royals fans will disappear like they did from 1986-2013

The vocal and exciting fans that started paying attention last October? https://t.co/sQ4LHgrnmr

The inferiority complex in Kansas City continues. It's so, so cute. https://t.co/KdDxYOuNCq

Those were just the tame tweets.
@FlannyMLB Cards fans just mad that the self-titled "best fans in baseball" aren't even the best fans in the STATE. #ForeverRoyal

I love Ned Yost. "#Royals fans are more exciting than #Cardinals fans." To paraphrase.

Here's hoping this heated rivalry is able to be decided in the ultimate showdown, the World Series.
