Report: Rangers likely not a suitor for Phillies' Hamels
Despite some recent talk of the Texas Rangers kicking the tires as to the asking price for Philadelphia Phillies ace Cole Hamels, those conversations appear to be dead in the water.
According to MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan, the two clubs had opened a dialog about a potential trade but the Rangers balked to the Phillies' asking price.
Sullivan quotes one Rangers source as putting it bluntly, "If we were going to do that trade, we would have already done it by now."
Sullivan also mentions in his column that the Rangers have noticed some interest in lefty Wandy Rodriguez, as potential interested teams might view the veteran as a 'fallback' guy should the asking price for premier deadline targets such as Hamels be too high.
The non-waiver trading deadline is just 14 days away, so look for these sorts of conversations to get louder and louder as the day approaches.
