Report: 20-year-old Yankees prospect shot and killed in Venezuela

New York Yankees pitching prospect Alexander Figueredo was reportedly fatally shot in Venezuela on Nov. 27, according to George A. King III of the New York Post.

Figueredo missed the 2016 season as he was on the suspended/restricted list. The reason for his suspension was not disclosed.

The left-handed pitcher was at a party when he was gunned down and died from multiple gunshot wounds.

As a member of the Yankees' Dominican Summer League team, Figueredo went 5-0 with a 1.89 ERA in 12 games with 52 strikeouts and 22 walks.
