Rangers' DeShields wanted to buy a Porsche, but parents said no
Texas Rangers outfielder Delino DeShields, the son of former big leaguer Delino, was a recent guest on the Ben and Skin Show on 105.3 the Fan in Dallas.
On the program, he was asked about a number of different things regarding baseball and his lifestyle now that he seems to have latched on with a big league club for good. The Dallas Morning News summarized some of DeShields' most entertaining answers in a new piece.
Among them: apparently, after being drafted, DeShields wanted to celebrate by buying a Porsche...but his parents weren't having it: "I drive an Escalade and a Chevy Silverado. But that’s really it. I keep it simple. I’m not really flashy or anything like that. When I first got drafted, I wanted a Porsche. But my parents were like, 'Boy, you better not get no Porsche.’ So I got a Cadillac instead, and that’s enough flash for me."
When a Cadillac is your 'backup car', you're doing pretty well for yourself.
