Joe Maddon lays down the law about kids in the clubhouse

In the spirit of preempting any questions about his team's rules regarding the rooming and boarding of children in the clubhouse, Joe Maddon laid out the Cubs' child-on-premises policy plainly on Sunday afternoon.

Per CSN's Patrick Mooney, Maddon will allow kids in the clubhouse up until three hours before gametime. Players are also encouraged to dress as flyly as they wish at work:

So that's a good thing to know, although it's something Maddon probably shouldn't have to address in the first place.

But after this week's Adam LaRoche controversy -- a deeply dumb devolution of events in response to a situation that should never have been a situation in the first place -- every MLB franchise now finds itself in the position of establishing a firm and clear kids-in-the-locker-room policy.

The silver lining, I guess, is that the Cubs' rules are good rules: let kids hang a bit, but draw a line for visiting hours.

After all, nothing is more important than family, which is why you use some of your millions to buy them awesome seats to your game.
