CLEVELAND (AP) The Indians avoided salary arbitration with reliever Bryan Shaw by agreeing to a one-year, $2.75 million contract for next season with the steady right-hander.

Shaw is Cleveland's primary set-up man for closer Cody Allen, one of four players still eligible for arbitration.

The 28-year-old Shaw went 3-3 with a 2.95 ERA in a team-high 74 games last season. He has pitched in at least 70 games in each of his three seasons with Cleveland, which acquired him in a three-team trade from Arizona following the 2012 season.

The Indians are scheduled to exchange salary figures with Allen, outfielder Lonnie Chisenhall, reliever Jeff Manship and starter Josh Tomlin before Friday's deadline.
