14 years after being saved by J.T. Snow, Darren Baker heads to Cal
The little bat boy who was saved by J.T. Snow from avoiding a collision at the plate in the 2002 is now all grown up. Darren Baker has committed to playing baseball at Cal next year, he announced on Instagram.
Baker, the son of Washington Nationals manager Dusty Baker, ran onto the field to try and pick up Kenny Lofton's bat but he approached the plate as runners were charging home. With David Bell approaching, Snow noticed the kid nearing the plate and scooped him up before he was trampled.

This moment was a game-changer for aspiring bat boys across the country as Major League Baseball established a minimum age of 14 years old for future bat boys and girls.
