VMI overpowers Davidson 52-24

LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) Al Cobb threw for 338 yards and a touchdown and Jabari Turner ran in three more to help lift VMI to a 52-24 win over Davidson on Saturday.

Scoring early on a 38-yard TD run by Turner, VMI (1-2) never lost the lead, piling up 597 yards of total offense and converting two Davidson turnovers into touchdowns.

Turner had 89 yards on 12 carries, Cobb was 18 of 25 in the air, and Deon Watts had 96 yards rushing on 15 carries, including a scoring run from the 1 and a 12-yard TD reception in the second quarter. Aaron Sanders had a career-high 10 catches for 215 yards, and Chris Copeland blocked and recovered a Davidson punt for an 18-yard TD.

Davidson's J.P. Douglas had 317 yards passing and a touchdown and William Morris had 16 catches for 208 yards and a touchdown for the Wildcats (1-2).
