At 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, there's a lot to like about his game. The fact Weatherly is mobile enough to play the outside 'backer position at his size is very impressive. He was second on the team in both tackles for loss (9.5) and sacks (3.5).
Physically, he's capable of covering smaller players in space. However, Weatherly also possesses the capabilities to put his hand in the dirt and rush off the edge. As a hybrid outside linebacker/defensive end, his value is immense in both 3-4 and 4-3 schemes.
Vanderbilt now must look to replace one of its most productive players. Candidates such as Josh Smith and Landon Stokes looked prime to fit the bill in this capacity.
