USC star Jackson gets OK to focus on Olympics during spring football

Two-sport USC star Adoree' Jackson has been given the green light to focus on track and field during Trojans spring practice, football coach Clay Helton said Sunday.

"I've always believed if you're going to be a master at something, you've got to work at it -- and don't be a jack of all trades," Helton said, via the Los Angeles Times. "When you get the opportunity to go work for the Olympics, you need to go work at that."

The sophomore is focused on making it to Rio in 2016 as a long jumper. During his freshman year, Jackson participated part time in track and won the Pac-12 long-jump championship with a mark of 25 feet 3 inches. A 25-11 jump at the NCAA national championships last year was good enough for a fifth-place finish.

Jackson and the Trojans will play against Wisconsin in the Holiday Bowl in San Diego on Dec. 30.
