USC offering four-year scholarships for revenue-sport athletes

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 7:17 p.m. ET

The USC Trojans will now offer four-year scholarships to athletes in revenue sports as opposed to one-year renewable scholarships, as is the current practice, athletic director Pat Haden announced.

The policy will be effective July 1 and will apply to football and men's and women's basketball.

"In taking this action, USC hopes to help lead the effort to refocus on student-athlete welfare on and off the field," Haden said in a statement.

Current USC scholarship athletes who have previously signed one-year scholarships will also be covered under the new policy.
