UCLA quarterback Richard Brehaut broke his left leg in the second quarter of the Bruins' game against Washington State on Saturday night

Brehaut was hurt while running with the ball. He attempted to walk after the hit, but collapsed on the field before walking off.

The Bruins announced after halftime that Brehaut had a broken lower left leg, giving no further specifics.

Brehaut started four of the Bruins' first six games, passing for 907 yards and six touchdowns without an interception before Saturday's game.

He was replaced by Kevin Prince, who lost the starting job to Brehaut last month after throwing three interceptions in the first quarter against Texas.

Prince immediately led a touchdown drive for the Bruins, who trailed 9-7 at halftime.
