Report: USC, LSU assistant Ed Orgeron discuss a reunion

Published Dec. 23, 2015 2:10 p.m. ET

USC head coach Clay Helton has spoken to LSU assistant coach Ed Orgeron about a potential reunion with the Trojans, according to a report by Scott Wolf of the Los Angeles Daily News.

Orgeron spent four years in Los Angeles with the Trojans from 2010-2013 and was on the same staff with Helton under former head coach Lane Kiffin. Orgeron took over as USC's interim head coach when Kiffin was fired in September of 2013.

Wolf reports that athletic director Pat Haden would likely have to approve the move.

Any deal could be contingent on whether athletic director Pat Haden approves on Orgeron returning and nothing will probably be determined until after LSU’s season is over.

Orgeron is currently the defensive line coach at LSU under Les Miles.
