Report: Texas takes interim tag off AD Mike Perrin with 2-year deal

Mike Perrin, Texas' interim athletic director who has provided unwavering support for football coach Charlie Strong, will take on the job permanently.
According to the Austin American-Statesman, Texas will award Perrin a two-year contract. He took over on an interim basis in mid-September following the firing of former athletic director Steve Patterson, whose penny-pinching ways and acrimonious management style rubbed off poorly on many within the university, as well as boosters, alumni and fans.
Perrin took over on a one-year deal with a mission to mend fences. According to the Statesman, the atmosphere inside the athletic department has indeed cooled.
When Perrin was hired, University of Texas President Gregory L. Fenves said a search for a permanent replacement wouldn't start until after the football season. Strong, who was hired by Patterson, seems as if he'll be satisfied with the interim tag being removed and Perrin taking on a full-time basis.
"Mike’s an unbelievable person, and he’s going to do a great job," Strong told the Statesman prior to the Thanksgiving game against Texas Tech. "He just he has that leadership ability about him where he can get things done.”
