Report: LSU offered ex-DC Chavis $5.4M extension night of 2014 bowl game

A messy divorce between LSU and former defensive coordinator John Chavis has gotten even more bizarre and convoluted.
In a report by Ross Dellenger of The Advocate, a lawsuit filed by Chavis indicates that LSU head coach Les Miles offered Chavis a 3-year, $5.4 million extension to remain as LSU's defensive coordinator. This was done in the team hotel the day of the Music City Bowl loss to Notre Dame. Also reported, Miles knew Chavis was leaving the team in the weeks leading up to the bowl game over the contract dispute.
Although the initial lawsuit filed by Chavis against LSU was thrown out, the current Texas A&M defensive coordinator is now seeking $445,000 in penalty wages, and another $205,000 for unpaid vacation time and an academic bonus.

LSU strongly disputes the claims made by Chavis and his legal team.
The contest between the Tigers and Aggies on Nov. 28 in Baton Rouge should be quite interesting, to say the least.
