On The Recruiting Trail: Iowa Football Lands WR Max Cooper
Iowa lands Wisconsin wide receiver Max Cooper to bump their total to 14 in 2017
Iowa football landed their second wide receiver commit in the class of 2017 in Max Cooper on Wednesday. Cooper originally verbally committed to Central Michigan, however switched his commitment to Iowa once the Hawkeyes offered him a scholarship.
Cooper took to Twitter to make his announcement:
“After an exciting past few days, I have decided to decommit from CMU [Central Michigan] and accept a full ride scholarship to Play for Coach Ferentz at Iowa! Thank you to all the coaches from CMU who have been recruiting me in this process. But playing in the B1G Ten is a dream of mine and I cannot be more excited to say that it has come true! #GoHawkeyes

Iowa was the first Power Five school to offer Cooper after he gained traction with smaller schools. Along with Iowa and Central Michigan, North Dakota, Air Force and South Dakota also offered him. Michigan State, Northwestern and others showed interest in the 6-0, 175 pound receiver.
Cooper recently led his Wisconsin high school, Waukesha Catholic Memorial, to a state title in 2016 as a senior. He recorded 50 catches for 1,024 and 17 touchdowns, per HawkeyeReport.com.

After losing a lot of commits over the past couple of months, which included Texas wide receiver Beau Corrales, it’s a nice change of pace for Iowa to land a new commitment. Cooper is the 14th verbal commit in Iowa’s 2017 class.
