Morton scores late, Prairie View beats Jackson State 28-14

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) Jalen Morton scored on a 4-yard keeper with 2:34 left in the game and Prairie View held on to beat Jackson State 28-14 on Saturday.
Morton passed for two first-half TDs and Prairie View (5-3, 5-1 Southwestern Athletic) extended the lead to 21-0 on Caleb Broach's 10-yard TD run early in the third. Robert Johnson and Juwan Adams each had TD runs to help Jackson State (3-5, 3-3) rally back to within a touchdown before the end of the quarter.
Jarin Morikawa had 286 yards passing for the Tigers. But the Panthers intercepted Morikawa twice and held Jackson State to minus-3 yards on 22 rushing attempts.
Daniel Williams had eight catches for 136 yards and passed Sylvester Morris (192) to become the Jackson State career receptions leader.
The Tigers remained in first place in the SWAC East Division thanks to Alcorn State also losing on Saturday, 41-33 to Southern.
