Allen’s name hasn’t been mentioned as much as Jack Conklin or even Shilique Calhoun’s thus far in the 2016 NFL season which is because he’s been on the Saints’ practice squad.
New Orleans signed him as an undrafted free agent and it was surprising to see him go unselected in the 2016 NFL Draft after being named an All-American and runner-up for the Rimington Trophy. On Saturday, the hard work paid off, though.
Michigan State had one of its most successful runs in school history with Allen as the starting center. He consistently led an impressive offensive line and got better by each passing season as well as improved on his leadership skills.
Passing the torch to his younger brother Brian, who is set to be a senior in 2017, who will then pass it on to Matthew, a redshirt freshman next season, Jack has been a great influence on his siblings. He’s a role model to look up to and a perfect path to follow for success at the next level.
Hard work has paid off for the former Michigan State All-American and he might just get a real shot at seeing the field in the final few weeks or even next year.
