Mason 'primed,' only looking forward after ugly 2014 debut
Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason has spent much of the offseason talking about what he learned from last year, when the Commodores went 3-9 overall and 0-8 in the SEC in Mason's first season as a head coach.
But now, with Vandy set to kick off the 2015 season Thursday night against Western Kentucky, Mason is done looking back.
"(Those lessons were) helpful over the last nine months," Mason said at his first weekly press conference Tuesday, according to The Tennessean. "But as soon as we kick this game off, everything moves forward. This football team is going to look different to you. It looks different to me. It’s going to look different to our fan base."
Mason added, "We are past 2014. We moved past that a long time ago. The 2015 season is upon us. These guys are primed. I’m primed. The opportunity is there."
