Maine jumped out to a big first-half lead and cruised to a 31-15 win over Albany (N.Y.) on Saturday night.
The Black Bears (2-1) led 24-0 after three quarters and snapped the Great Danes' two-game winning streak in the series.
Warren Smith threw two touchdown passes in the second quarter for Maine - 7 yards to Justin Perrilo and 14 yards to Mauri McDonald - and completed 21 of 32 passes for 202 yards for the game. Pushaun Brown rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown for the Black Bears, giving him at least 100 yards on the ground in five straight Football Championship Series games.
The Great Danes (0-2) scored twice in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late. Drew Smith, on his only attempt, threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Justin Peterson to close out the scoring.
Maine held Albany to only 79 yards rushing on the night.
