LSU needs to be ready for Mississippi State

Due to the cancellation of LSU's season opener versus McNeese State, Les Miles' team will now open the season on the road at Mississippi State.
This certainly isn't the way anyone drew it up. The McNeese State game was supposed to be a nice tune-up for conference play. Sophomore Brandon Harris theoretically would've been able to ease his way into the season. Running back Leonard Fournette would've started his Heisman Trophy campaign with a huge game, and the rest of a relatively young squad would've gotten both confidence and snaps out on the field.
Theoretically is the operative word here.
With that plan completely scrapped via Mother Nature, an early season road test at "Stark Vegas" awaits.
Mississippi State isn't afraid of LSU. Last year, Dan Mullen's team strolled into Baton Rouge and came out with a surprising 34-29 victory. The score isn't even indicative of how dominating the Bulldogs were that day. With quarterback (and Louisiana native) Dak Prescott back, there's no question MSU can provide a very stiff challenge.
With all of the hoopla surrounding the cancellation of the game, Miles has to hope it won't be a distraction for his program as it begins conference play.

Agreed. Could hurt Miss St not having film. LSU has clearly changed up the playbook this year. Saw that in 1 drive https://t.co/3T7mdTcs7h
