Louisville Football: Vikings showing why they need Teddy Bridgewater

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

The Minnesota Vikings are now on a two-game losing streak and showing why former Louisville Football player Teddy Bridgewater is still the franchise quarterback.

Oh Vikings fans, what did I tell you three weeks or so ago? Sam Bradford is not the answer at quarterback, it’s still former Louisville football player Teddy Bridgewater.

There were a ton of people out there who were totally sold on Sam Bradford being the new franchise quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings after they started the 2016 season on a five game winning streak. Even though their defense has been their best asset, Vikings’ fans still believed that Bradford became the guy for the Vikings behind center.

However, now that the Vikings are losing because of the offensive line’s poor play, everyone should now appreciate what Teddy Bridgewater has been able to do for the Vikings over the past few seasons.

Sam Bradford has now been sacked 14 times this season and that’s a huge blame to be put on their offensive line. However, it’s not like Bradford is the most mobile quarterback in the NFL either. He hasn’t helped their cause by not getting outside of the pocket and making great throws.

Let me put this into perspective for you.

Teddy Bridgewater was sacked 44 times last season. He was sacked, just about, three times per game last season and yet, he was still able to throw for 3,221 yards and 14 touchdowns. Yes, he was able to do that with Adrian Peterson, but they still went 11-5 and won the NFC North for the first time in a while.

Bridgewater has stuck behind that offensive line and won games, despite how many times he was sacked during a game.

He is become a very solid quarterback who can make plays outside of the pocket. That is something that Sam Bradford simply cannot do.

Don’t be fooled by the Minnesota’s 5-2 record, Bridgewater is still the guy behind center for the Vikings.
