Local columnist: Fournette is the best offensive player at LSU in 27 years

Just how good is Leonard Fournette? Most assume the running back is the most talented player on the offensive side of the ball for LSU, but columnist Mike Detillier went much farther Tuesday, calling Fournette the best offensive player he's seen in his time covering the team.

During a Tuesday segment of Out of Bounds The Zone 105.9, Detillier had this to say on Fournette.

"I do think what you are looking at here is a special back in Leonard Fournette," Detillier said. "A guy that is a once-in-a-lifetime-type player and I think you are going to see that more and more from him as the season goes along. I've done this for 27 years, he's the best offensive player I've seen at LSU. The very best."

Fournette did appear to grow into his role with the Tigers in his freshman season, capping the season with his two best performances against Texas A&M and Notre Dame. If Detillier is right, we may have only just begun to see the greatness of LSU's sophomore tailback.
