VALPARAISO, Ind. - If the Jacksonville University football team was looking for a way to gain some national recognition, it found one on Saturday at Valparaiso.

The Dolphins, hoping to earn an at-large spot in the FCS playoffs, set a school record for points in an 86-7 rout.

JU (6-1, 4-0 Pioneer League) led 66-7 at halftime, with a school-record 38 points in the second quarter. The offense accounted for just 42 of those points, aided by two interception returns for touchdowns and one blocked punt in the end zone.

The offense posted 658 yards, another school record. Josh McGregor had 320 passing yards with three TDs.

Rudell Small rushed 12 times for a season-high 192 yards and three TDs.

"Everyone contributed to this win today," said JU head coach Kerwin Bell.

JU's 86 points shattered the previous school record of 55 set against UNC-Pembroke in 2007. Valparaiso dropped to 0-7, 0-4.
