Jeff Gordon took PSU students behind scenes at Pocono

Jeff Gordon did more than represent Penn State with the paint job on his No. 24 Chevy last Saturday at Pocono Raceway.
He also invited a group of Penn State students to see how a NASCAR team functions on race day.
Per a Penn State news release, the students toured the garages at the raceway and learned more about the business side while also getting a closer look at the technology that goes into the modern race car.
The students also had dinner with Gordon and Ray Evernham on Saturday night, and sophomore Tony Bae said the experience offered a great opportunity to see lessons about keys to building a cohesive team come to life in front of them.
“In school we learn abstract things like leadership, collaboration, open communication,” Bae said via the press release. “This is our opportunity to not only gain insights but also apply what we’ve learned.”
Gordon, who finished 14th in the Axalta "We Paint Winners" 400, said via the release he was happy to represent Penn State.
“Its not an easy task to pull off," he said. "We know the work that went in to making it happen, and now I get the benefit of going out there and representing a great school — blue and white — as well as a great brand and company in Axalta. It’s going to be a fun day for me no matter what.”
