CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) Troymaine Pope rushed for 180 yards on 15 carries and Miles Jones pounded in a 1-yard touchdown run with 2:41 remaining in the game to help lead Jacksonville State to a 23-20 come-from-behind win over Chattanooga in the season opener for both schools on Saturday.

Jones' run capped a 10-play, 79-yard drive that included a crucial 4th-and-3 conversion at the Chattanooga 11-yard line.

Eli Jenkins completed 16 of 24 passes for 113 yards and a touchdown and added 47 yards on the ground for the Gamecocks.

Chattanooga had a final possession, but went three-and-out after gaining just five yards.

Jacob Huesman led Chattanooga, throwing for 86 yards and running for 81 and a touchdown but the Mocs had just 196 yards of total offense.

The game was the 39th meeting all-time between the schools. Chattanooga leads the series 26-13.
