Injury fear for OL Perkins subsides, Strong says he's day-to-day

Things got so bad for the Texas Longhorns' offense against Oklahoma State after lineman Kent Perkins was forced out of the game with a knee injury that thoughts quickly turned to how bad life might get if he's out for an extended period.

When coach Charlie Strong said after the game that it might "take some time" before Perkins would be able to play again, the worst was feared.

It appears Texas can get that ugly thought out of its mind. On Monday, Strong said Perkins is day-to-day.

When Perkins went out after taking a helmet to the knee, the Texas offensive line immediately struggled, giving up five sacks among the seven allowed in the game. Perkins' replacement, Marcus Hutchins was quickly pulled after looking terrible. On Monday, offensive line teammate Sedrick Flowers called out Hutchins, saying he wasn't prepared to play.

Texas better be prepared to face No. 4 TCU in Fort Worth on Saturday. The Horned Frogs' defense has been decimated by injury, but the Frogs are still 4-0 (1-0 in Big 12) and are equipped with an explosive offense that has scored at least 52 points in each of the last three games.
