Houston takes over 2nd half, beats SMU 35-9

DALLAS (AP) Greg Ward Jr. and Kenneth Farrow combined for five touchdowns as Houston held SMU scoreless in the second half to win 35-9 on Friday.
Matt Davis threw a 67-yard touchdown pass to Jeremiah Gaines to put the Mustangs up 9-7 at the half. Farrow ran for two touchdowns - for 11 and 14 yards, respectively - and Ward added another to put the Cougars up 28-9 by the end of the third.
Houston picked up 185 offensive yards in the third quarter and held SMU to just 28.
Ward threw for 144 yards, and ran for 93 yards and three touchdowns. Farrow finished with 110 yards on 18 carries and two touchdowns for Houston (7-4, 5-2 American).

Davis had 145 yards passing for SMU, and led the Mustangs (0-11, 0-7) with 70 yards rushing on 20 carries.
