Hoosier safety nominated for Big Ten Medal of Honor

Indiana safety Mark Murphy is one of the school's recipients of the Big Ten Medal of Honor, a prestigious award in its 101st year.

An Akron, Ohio, native, Murphy made 49 tackles, including 2.5 for loss, and a pair of interceptions last season.

After the Hoosiers knocked off No. 18 Missouri on the road, Murphy was named IU's Defensive Player of the Week.

Rebecca Gerrity, a water polo player, from San Rafael, Calif., is Indiana's female Big Ten Medal of Honor winner.
