Former Virginia quarterback Greyson Lambert is being recruited by Georgia, coach Mark Richt confirmed Tuesday.

According to Yahoo Sports, Richt said at a Pigskin event that he is pursuing Lambert, a graduate transfer who is eligible to play in 2015. "It's an interesting dynamic," Richt told Yahoo Sports.

Lambert platooned last season with Matt Johns, starting nine games and finishing the year 154 for 261 passing (59 percent) for 1,631 yards with 10 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. However, after spring ball, Lambert was dropped to second string on the depth chart, and he announced his transfer shortly thereafter.

Georgia, meanwhile, has a combined 44 passes worth of experience on its roster following the graduation of starter Hutson Mason. Brice Ramsey, a sophomore, and Faton Bauta, a junior, both appeared in spot duty last season and were listed as co-starters on the post-spring depth chart, although Richt said that the competition would extend into fall. Redshirt freshman Jacob Park also is in the mix.

Given the Bulldogs' lack of meaningful experience, Lambert would provide an intriguing option if he were to end up in Athens, so it makes sense that Richt would be interested in adding him to the mix and putting another bullet in his quarterback chamber.
