FSU football finished strong down the stretch to earn an Orange Bowl bid over Louisville. Cardinal fans react to the news on social media after beating ‘Noles earlier in the year.

FSU football played its first true road game against Louisville in its third game of the season and got embarrassed, losing by 43 points, the worst loss in FSU history.

Lamar Jackson was the front-runner (probably still is) for the Heisman Trophy and Louisville looked to be a player in the national picture.

Fast forward about 10 weeks and both FSU and Louisville had lost to Clemson. However, FSU won six of its final seven with the lone loss being against Clemson, and Louisville lost back-to-back games to finish their season on a sour note.

That coupled with FSU playing the stronger schedule was the deciding factor in getting the Orange Bowl bid over Louisville.

Louisville fans are livid, citing the huge win over FSU earlier in the season as reason enough to receive the Orange Bowl bid.

Conclusion

Listen, there are arguments to be made on both sides. Yes, Louisville beat the brakes off FSU at home in the third game of the season.

Everyone knows its better to lose earlier in the season than later in the season. Teams change as seasons progress, FSU got significantly better and Louisville lost its final two games.

The final game Louisville lost against Kentucky, they were 26 point betting favorites at HOME.

Louisville lost the game before that by 26 points on the road against Houston.

The Orange Bowl is in Florida and FSU will draw a larger crowd which is what matters to those in charge of the bowls. Also, historically, FSU is the ACC’s best in terms of drawing power on TV.

So blame whoever, but ultimately, it’s Louisville fault they are not playing in the Orange Bowl. All they had to do was beat Kentucky at home, and they couldn’t get it done as three touchdown favorites.

Have fun in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl against LSU, Louisville!
