Freshman gives Delaware State first win, 32-31 over Howard

DOVER, Del. (AP) Freshman quarterback Kobie Lain threw two touchdowns and ran for a third in his first start and Delaware State got its first win in the last game of the season, 32-31 over Howard.

Dae-Hon Cheung scored on a 64-yard run with 6 minutes left for the game winner as the Hornets (1-10, 1-7 Mid-Eastern Atlantic) scored the last two touchdowns to win.

Lain threw a 32-yard pass to Aris Scott at 2:56 of the third quarter to pull the Hornets within 31-25 after the 2-point conversion failed.

Lain, who had a 5-yard TD on the first play of the second quarter and a 16-yard scoring pass to Nate Ortiz, finished 14 of 27 for 181 yards and an interception. Cheung had 116 yards on 11 carries. BBB Alleyne returned a kickoff 88 yards.

Kalen Johnson threw for a touchdown and ran for one for the Bison (1-10, 1-7). Ricquaz Brannon had 126 yards on 22 carries and a touchdown.
