True freshman John Reid is reportedly having an impressive preseason camp for Penn State football.

A four-star prospect from Philadelphia, Reid was among the top 100 players in the country last season accordion to Scout.com, and The Patriot-News reports his name was on the lips of several of his older teammates as well as position coach Terry Smith on Wednesday.

"John Reid is having an exceptional camp," Smith said. "He's a really smart kid, he's a really driven kid. He's performing well and he's competing hard."

Classmate Garrett Taylor is also pushing for a spot in the two-deep, which figures to see Trevor Williams and Grant Haley as first-teamers.
