Fighting Irish expecting Robinson to bounce back from Clemson disappointment

Corey Robinson arrived at Notre Dame already possessing a famous last name.

The son of NBA Hall of Fame center David Robinson may have seen his own profile rise last Saturday night for the wrong reasons, though, as he caught only one pass against Clemson and let a two-point conversion attempt slip through his hands.

With his father's alma mater, Navy, on tap next, the younger Robinson is expected to remain a big part of the Fighting Irish's plans.

"Corey Robinson is going to get the job done," Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly said Tuesday during his weekly press conference in South Bend. "I had a very lengthy conversation with him yesterday. I believe in Corey. Corey's got to believe in himself, and he will. He's got to go attack the football. He's letting the football come to him. He's letting it eat him up a little bit, but I believe in Corey."

On the season, Robinson has five catches for 60 yards as part of a deep receiving corps.

"Once he starts attacking the football, I think we're going to see somebody that can make the plays that we expect him to make," Kelly said. "So I'm optimistic that we're going to see the guy that we need to see on Saturday."
