Farniok challenging for playing time

Published Aug. 19, 2015 4:17 p.m. ET

One thing you could say about the Oklahoma offense last season was its offensive line was really good.

Gone are Daryl Williams and Tyrus Thompson, both in the NFL now.

That leaves returning starters Ty Darlington and Nila Kasitati. And there's also senior Derek Farniok, a senior from Sioux Falls, S.D.

Farniok is challenging to be a full-tie starter after playing in every game last season.

“He just needs to get a little more confident in certain situations, but he’s doing a lot of good things,” offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh said to The Oklahoman. “He’s really good in the run game right now.

“He’s like everyone else. He has to progress. He has some guys pushing him. He’s a starter right now as of today. He has the most experience.”

Farniok did a question-and-answer segment with The Oklahoman. Check it out here.
