Elite LB prospect Erroll Thompson commits to Mississippi State

Out to prove their top ranked 2015 recruiting class was no fluke, the Mississippi State Bulldogs continue to see their recent success translate to recruiting, as Erroll Thompson, one of the top ranked inside linebacker prospects in the nation, commits to the Hail State.

While many projected the Florence, Ala., native to pick the Tide, Thompson saw a better opportunity for himself in Starkville.

"Really, I felt like Mississippi State was my best fit both personally and as a player and person. I feel like the coaches can develop my skills and I felt at home there," Thompson told ESPN.

"I've known for about a month or two. I had committed to the coaches a month ago. They were excited. I talked to Coach [Dan] Mullen a couple of days ago and he asked if everything was good, and I told him yes it was. When I was down there, Coach Mullen showed me the recruiting board and I was the No. 1 inside linebacker on their board. That showed me a lot."

Mississippi State now has 15 commitments in their 2016 recruiting class, all of which come from SEC territory of Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, Florida or Alabama.
