Dupree carries The Citadel past W. Carolina 28-21
Ben Dupree rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns to lead The Citadel to a 28-21 win over Western Carolina Saturday.
Dupree put together a 19-play touchdown drive on the first possession of the game, ultimately taking the ball in himself to get the Bulldogs (1-2, 1-1) on the board. Dupree led the Bulldogs running game but managed only 17 yards passing with one interception. Starting fullback Darien Robinson ran for just 50 yards on 14 carries.
The Citadel was also able to capitalize on mistakes by the Catamounts (0-3, 0-1), returning a fumble and an interception for touchdowns. On Western Carolina's first possession, The Citadel's James Riley forced a fumble, recovered by Tevin Floyd who ran eight yards for a touchdown and a 14-0 Citadel lead.
The Catamounts Troy Mitchell was 16 of 22 for 136 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
