D'oh! W. Illinois takes safety on opening kick, spots Badgers 2 points

No. 18 Wisconsin is hosting Western Illinois on Saturday in Madison, and the Fighting Leathernecks apparently wanted to thank them for being such gracious hosts.

Why else would they spot the Badgers a pair of points off the opening kickoff?

Here's what happened: After Kyle Hammonds botched the catch, the ball bounced out of the end zone. Instead of picking it up and trying to salvage what meager yardage was left, he decided to step backward into the end zone and take a knee, resulting in a safety.
