Dayton to host six in 2016

(STATS) - The University of Dayton football team will play six home games as part of an 11-game 2016 schedule announced on Thursday.

The Flyers went 10-2 and won a share of the Pioneer Football League title in qualifying for the FCS playoffs for the first time last season.

As it tries to get back to the postseason, coach Rick Chamberlin's squad will play back-to-back home games three different times. Before league play, the Flyers will open the season at home against Division II Central State (Sept. 3) and Robert Morris (Sept. 10).

Within the PFL, Dayton will host Drake (Oct. 1), Morehead State (Oct. 8), Stetson (Oct. 29) and Valparaiso (Nov. 5).

The road schedule is highlighted by visits to 2015 Northeast Conference champ Duquesne (Sept. 17) and San Diego (Sept. 24), the other 2015 PFL co-champ. Also, the Flyers will play league games at Jacksonville (Oct. 15), Butler (Oct. 22) and Marist (Nov. 12).
