David Shaw has elevated Stanford to new heights

Published Dec. 1, 2015 3:27 p.m. ET

In his fifth season as Stanford's head coach, David Shaw is once again proving that he is one of the best coaches in the entire country. He also may be one of the most underrated.

As Stanford prepares to take on USC on Saturday for the Pac-12 title at Levi's Stadium, Shaw will be attempting to lead his Cardinal to their fourth 11 win season under his guidance.

The Cardinal have made the Pac-12 title game three times in his five seasons as head coach, including this season. If Stanford can take down USC on Saturday, Shaw will have captured his third Pac-12 crown in four years.

Pretty impressive for a guy who many thought wouldn't succeed after Jim Harbaugh left the school for the NFL.
