D-II Fort Valley St. beats Savannah St. 42-28

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) Drelon Freeman hauled in five passes for 204 yards and a pair of touchdowns as Division-II Fort Valley State beat Savannah State 42-28 on Saturday night.

Freeman caught TD passes of 80 and 12 yards from Otis Brown as the Wildcats (1-1) broke away from a 21-21 tie after halftime.

Savannah State (0-3) fumbled the opening kick, which was recovered by Fort Valley's Kentorius Jacks. On the first play after the turnover, Jamar Smith ran in from the 15 to give the Wildcats a quick 7-0 lead.

The Tigers knotted the score at 21 when Ker-Sean Wilson hit Cantrell Frazier from the 11, and Justin Dixon returned a Fort Valley fumble 7 yards for a score. Savannah State was held to 60 yards rushing on 30 carries, and just 145 in the air.

Fort Valley picked off four Savannah State passes, three from Wilson.
