Chris Evans Is Just Getting Started for Michigan Football
Chris Evans made a big impact for the Michigan football last Saturday against Hawaii and with his ability, expect the Wolverines to keep finding ways to get him the ball.
Everyone knew Michigan football was talented and deep at running back. But until Chris Evans broke out for 112 yards and eight carries versus Hawaii last Saturday, nobody really knew just how deep the Wolverines really are.
Many expected a freshman running back to get some touches this season. But that was supposed to be Kareem Walker, the No. 1 ranked back in the country, not Evans.
Yet, Jim Harbaugh doesn’t care about recruiting stars or rankings — he cares about talent and production. And throughout camp, Evans has used his incredible talent to produce.
“After two days of training camp, we all knew who Chris Evans was,” Wilton Speight said. “The best part about it, he doesn’t let anything get to his head.”
When given the opportunity against Hawaii, Evans ran with it, literally, scoring two touchdowns and becoming just the third Wolverine freshman to eclipse 100 yards rushing in his debut.
Evans also showed how electrifying he can be on a 43-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

“I knew Chris Evans was special,” Jim Harbaugh said Saturday. “What you saw today is what we have been seeing in practice the last month. He’s a special football player. And you didn’t get to see everything he can do.”
As Harbaugh said, Evans is capable of a lot more. He’s a talented receiver and could also get involved in the return game. More carries should come his way too.
Michigan football would be smart to keep getting Evans the ball and Wolverines fans should get used to seeing him every Saturday.
So should Michigan’s opponents, in fact, I suspect they will be sick of seeing him soon.
