Chemistry between Jared Goff, receivers fuels success
Cal offensive coordinator Tony Franklin is supposed to be in charge of leading Cal's high-octane offense. However, there are times where he watches QB Jared Goff and the Bears receivers and doesn't know what's going on.
"Sometimes, they do things with signals I don't even know," says Franklin, according to ESPN. "So that's when I say, 'I don't know what that was, but do it again!' It would have concerned me before this year, but not anymore."
Goff and his incredible stable of receivers have developed a strong chemistry over the past couple of seasons. It's starting to pay off in a big way for the Bears.
The Bears receivers have become a close, unselfish group. They know Goff doesn't who is running the routes, as long as that person is open.
"Jared's not looking for one guy; he's looking for a spot," wide receiver Bryce Treggs explained. "And there's a different guy in that spot on every play."
Goff is also going to do his best to spread the ball around.
"We're not going to put up Amari Cooper numbers," Treggs said. "That's not what we do. We spread the ball around."
The Bears believe they have the best group of wide receivers in the nation and they're out to prove it.
"We want it to be unanimous," wide receiver Stephen Anderson said. "When people discuss [the top unit], we want the answer to be Cal. That's what motivates us."
