VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) Duvante Lane carried 29 times for 156 yards and a touchdown and the Butler defense shut out Valparaiso to secure a 23-12 win on Saturday.

Pace Temple caught five passes for 125 yards and Drew Bevelhimer hit all three of his field goal attempts for the Bulldogs (4-5, 2-4 Pioneer Football League), who have won two-of-three following a three game skid.

Isaak Newhouse put Butler on the board first with a 46-yard interception return for a TD in the 1st quarter. But Valparaiso (3-6, 2-4) cut its deficit to 13-12 at halftime after Jimmy Seewald found Mason Sutter from 9-yards out late in the 2nd.

Those were the Crusaders final points though, as Lane burst through for a 3-yard score early in the 4th quarter and Bevelhimer put it away with a 27-yard field goal a few minutes later.
