Butch Jones: 'I am responsible, put it all on me'

A stoic Butch Jones took to the podium Monday for his weekly opening press conference to field questions from the local media. Jones faced questions regarding several questionable calls he made down the stretch that all but cost Tennessee their first victory Florida victory in over a decade.

Without hesitation, the Volunteers' head coach took responsibility for the loss.

"I am the head football coach, and I am responsible for anything and everything," Jones said. "I would say put it all on my shoulders. I want it all on my shoulders. That is part of the responsibility here. We have been through this, but I see our progress. I am responsible; put it all on me, so our players can go play and our coaches can coach. That's the responsibility of being the head football coach."

Jones has clearly never felt the level of scrutiny at his previous stops at Cincinnati and Central Michigan that he's currently facing in Knoxville. With the talent currently on the roster, the Volunteer fan base will not tolerate losing at a high level.

As bad as things may seem on Rocky Top, the Vols are only four games into a long season and as long as the players continue to buy in, the team's goals are still very much attainable.

Judging by several player's reactions on social media, they still believe in Jones:

Now to get the fan base back to believing, Jones needs to start winning in conference play. With the next five opponents all from the SEC, it's time for Jones to show what, if anything, he's learned from the two bad losses suffered this season.
