Boston College blows by Howard in historic beatdown

Boston College improved to 2-0 in historic fashion on Saturday as the Eagles screamed past Howard, 76-0, for their most lopsided win since they beat Holy Cross by the same score in 1949.

BC stormed out to a 41-0 first quarter lead and held a 62-0 advantage at halftime.

Defensively, the Eagles limited Howard to two first downs and 11 total yards for the entire game.

Boston College churned out 347 rushing yards as Tyler Rouse (36 yards) and Jeff Smith (89 yards) ran for three touchdowns each, while Marcus Outlaw (42 yards) and Jon Hilliman (25 yards) both scored once.

Quarterback Darius Wade’s work day was a short one as he completed three of his five pass attempts for 30 yards and a TD before going to the sideline and allowing Troy Flutie, the son of BC legend Doug Flutie, to come into the game.

Flutie, a freshman, saw his first action as an Eagle and looked good in his debut as he completed seven of his eight attempts for 88 yards and a score.
