The Dallas Morning News examined the best and worst case scenarios for the Longhorns in 2015. Here's what they had to say.

Best-case...

A quarterback emerges early in the season for Texas and it comes out with a winning record against its first six opponents. The Longhorns get big contributions from their running backs and wide receivers. Texas also gets solid productions from its young offensive players. The offensive line gels and shows vast improvement from 2015. The defense doesn’t see a big dropoff from 2014 despite being a young unit and losing key players from last season. The Longhorns are able to upset TCU or Baylor on the road and they beat Oklahoma at the Red River Showdown. Texas heads into the third year of the Charlie Strong era with momentum with an eight or nine win season.

Worst-case...

The Longhorns quarterback woes continue in 2015. The offensive line continues to be a liability this season. With a putrid offensive line, Texas struggles to establish a running game in 2015. Quarterback issues lead to a lack of playmakers for the Longhorns. The Texas defense is unable to overcome its losses and youthfulness and sees a major drop-off in 2015. The Longhorns get blown out by Notre Dame, TCU and Baylor. Texas also suffers a loss to the Sooners in the Red River Showdown. The Longhorns win six or less games and head coach Charlie Strong finishes the season on the hot seat.
