Auburn Football vs. Arkansas â The Tigers' Next Biggest Game
As the season continues we take a look at the next biggest game of the season for Auburn football as they take on a ranked Arkansas team this Saturday.
Auburn football has another huge game this weekend as they take on No. 17 Arkansas at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
It seems like every week this year we’ve said that it’s the biggest game of the year for Auburn, and that’s not different this weekend.
It was the biggest game of the year against Clemson because it set the tone of expectations for the season.
The Texas A&M game was huge because at the time you thought that was a game Auburn had to win. Once Auburn lost to Texas A&M, it made the LSU game a must-win game for Gus Malzahn.
Then Mississippi State was the biggest game of the year because it would determine where we stood in the SEC West.
Now Arkansas is the biggest game of the year because it gives us a chance to beat another ranked SEC opponent and establish ourselves as one of the three best teams in the SEC West.

After Ole Miss lost to Arkansas, it kind of diminished the Rebels’ chances of competing for the SEC championship. With them out of contention who knows how they’ll respond the rest of the way.
Auburn has already beaten LSU and Mississippi State, which means a win against Arkansas puts them in at least the top four of the SEC West.
At the beginning of the season I counted on Arkansas being a game that Auburn would win, but they’ve proven that it won’t be that easy.
I still think Arkansas is a bit of a fraud at No. 17, but the Tigers will need to play their best game to beat the Hogs at home.
A win over Arkansas makes Auburn a legitimate contender in the SEC West. And depending on what happens between Texas A&M and Alabama, the Tigers could be in pretty good shape Saturday night if they win.
Coaches often use the tired quote that each week’s game is the biggest game, but that’s certainly been the case for Auburn football this year.
This team can’t get caught looking towards the future, they have to focus on beating the Razorbacks this weekend. A win completely changes the perception and expectations of this football team.
The Tigers are expected to be a big favorite in this game with the line opening up at -9 for Auburn. We have to come out and prove that we are that dominant team in the SEC.
If we struggle at all at home against Arkansas, no one will take us serious the rest of the season. But if we take it to them and win decisively, people have to start considering Auburn a real threat in the SEC West.
