ASU Football: Alex Perry Commits to ASU
The four-star recruit is the brother of redshirt sophomore Armand Perry.
There is no better type of recruiting for a coach than when you have a younger brother who wants to play along side his older brother in college. For head coach Todd Graham, that is exactly what happened. The deal is even sweeter when the younger brother is a four-star cornerback, a position you desperately need help in. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Alex Perry.
According to Rivals.com, Perry is ranked 18th nationally for his position group, and ranked sixth overall for top recruit for the state of Nevada. With the signing of Perry, ASU has nine commitments for the class of 2017 and is ranked as the 76th best recruiting class in the nation.
Perry turned down offers from Colorado, Michigan, North Carolina and Oklahoma, in favor of ASU. Both Colorado and Michigan are known for having strong defenses, so turning down offers from both schools shows just how much having a sibling at a school can effect a decision.
More from Devils in Detail
Perry will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact for the Sun Devils. After the atrocious defensive display the fans had to watch this past season, Graham knows that the defense needs to improve, and fast. Graham’s best chance for an improvement in the defense is to recruit players and giving them the chance to earn a starting position, Perry will be given that opportunity.
Most everyone has the chance to play football with their brother at one time or another. Most of the time it takes place in the backyard, but rarely does it happen on a football field. It is even more rare for their to be 50,000 people watching you two play together, but that is exactly what Alex and Armand Perry will get to experience when they both step foot onto Frank Kush Field come September of 2017.
